I've been scooped!
Well, almost. I found out today from my advisor that a faculty member at Harvard wants to publish a paper and use data from a UAB study that my advisor is the lead investigator. This affects me because he wants to write a paper that is basically my entire dissertation! I better get to work and publish my papers so he doesn't beat me to the punch. I'm trying to use this as motivation and I'm flattered that a Harvard professor had the same ideas, independent of working with me. I guess this means that what I'm doing is important.

ack! better get moving. but yes, it should give you a good feeling about the project.
At least it's from another dataset so if he publishes after me, it will look like he's only "confirming my findings." Right?
